Site Overview

Welcome to Shin'etsu! was launched in 2003 as the first English website focused on the area and is still the most popular and informative English portal for the Shin'etsu-kogen area, in particular - Myoko & Lake Nojiri-ko.

The region, stretching from Iizuna-kogen and Togakushi near Nagano City to Myoko City in Niigata Prefecture, has always been popular amongst locals and foreign residents but now also increasingly from overseas tourists. There are always plenty of things to do - whatever the season and whatever the age, with accommodations to suit any budget.

Lake Nojiri has long been regarded as one of Japan's best summer retreats and in October 2007 Welcome to Shin'etsu! featured in The News Corporation Travel Section - designating Myokokogen as one of Japan's best ski resorts. Also, in January 2008 Seki Onsen was Japan's only resort represented in the Travel Channel's "Skiers World" series (Episode Five).
