The information on this site was first collated by Nicholas Klar (author of 'My Mother is a Tractor') in an effort to consolidate the multitude of English information on the area and make it more readily accessible.
His wife is originally from Myoko area whilst Nicholas spent two years living in Omi-machi in Niigata (1995-97). They are presently living elsewhere in Asia but travel regularly to the area.
Other residents and visitors have also contributed in various ways, with a special mention to Karmen Hvalec of Arai, Snow Japan, Outdoor Japan and the Niigata JET site.
Since it's launch in 2003 this site has grown from a simple one page to become the most popular and informative one-stop English portal for the Myoko-Nojiriko-Togakushi area.
